The area of 2550 decares within the Gümeli Forests of Alaplı district was declared as Gümeli Natural Monument on 11 March 2008 due to the natural resources it carries. The most important feature of the field; Of course, it is an old yew stand, which also includes yew trees aged 1987 and 1164. There are many yew trees in the area with an average age of 300 to 500.
The most important feature of the Gümeli Nature Monument is the unique natural features that enable a tree to live like a young sapling for thousands of years. With these features, Gümeli Natural Monument is one of the most sensitive and valuable natural tourism areas of Turkey.
